Not Your Grandma’s Senior Living
PREMIUM APARTMENTS, FLEXIBLE SERVICES, EASY MANAGEMENT
This is a variation on the Active Adult model. It’s also a variation on the “Village” model as in the Village to Village Network, not the Villages in Florida.
Here’s how it works. People choose to move to one of the apartment units in the multi-generational rental portfolio managed by the company and then choose to acquire and pay for any service they want (any legal service presumably) via the company concierge. You pay for only what you need or want. It’s a bit like the Active Adult model because it involves a la carte services. It’s unlike the Active Adult model because it’s multi-generational—the UpsideHoM units are located in conventional rental properties. It’s a bit like the Village model because Village members can acquire most services they need or want from the Village organization they belong to. It’s unlike the Village model because you have to move to a unit in one of the properties involved in the company’s portfolio.
This is an interesting idea but here’s my bold assertion—it would never work in Canada. Our markets are just too small.
